PETER CRISS OR ERIC SINGER IN KISS? WHICH KISS IS BETTER? WILL THE TRUE CATMAN PLEASE STAND UP? by Dane Youssef

WHICH KISS IS BETTER? WILL THE TRUE CATMAN PLEASE STAND UP?

by Dane Youssef

He's more hurt than "pissed." But Gene isn't just the unofficial "star" of KISS, he's also the owner. The CEO. He owns the righs and the label KISS is under right now. KISS is now property of the "$ Gene Simmons Company $."

"The Demon" is just a character. Underneath it all, Mr. Simmons is a calculated businessman. He's all details, data, legal rights and finance.

I've seen that YouTube myself and Peter has said, "Same here! I feel the same way like you as a fan. And I get upset with it, and it comes down to money, man, and power and politics. I have nothing to do with that, and when I did have something to do with that it backfired and knocked me on my butt. All I gotta say about that is it's got to be a fair baseball. It has to be, because it's only common respect.

"We put a foundation of something, for respect, for you and me. I don't like it either, and of course to whatever business is being, it seems no big deal to some people, but it is a big deal. To me it's like taking the Lone Ranger's mask and putting it on another guy. It just wouldn't be the Lone Ranger, and I say that to some kids. You can put my make-up on, but you're not the Catman. You don't have my hands, you don't have my heart, you don't have my brain, and you weren't there from day one."

How many of the fans have showed up to the "Greatest Show On Earth" as the Cat? Still, they're like pro ball fans who put on the Jerseys.

But honestly--many of the current die-hard KISS followers believe that Singer is a far-and-away better drummer than Criss. So... there you go.

But... is he the "Catman?"

Well. I guess he is now.

I was expecting someone as wild and eccentricly loud as the rest of the band. He actually seems like just some nice little Itallian man. From the Big Apple who's just a friendly neghiborhood regular. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

I've often thought that Singer and Thayer should get their own characters. Eric Carr ("The Fox") and Vinnie Vincent ("The Ankh Warrior") did. Fair is fair.

What's the matter? Gene's afraid he might not be able to sell the "Space Cadet" and "Cat" action figures if he does?
